The Great
Florida Countryside
Let Down

Buyers beware. Despite the promises made by Allen Jackson, Graham Pyle and his son (Simon Pyle) from Florida Countryside (aka Countryside International) of representation and protection, they have distinctly failed to look after my interests, at huge personal cost to me.

Back in September 2004 my wife and I purchased an Off Plan plot on the Millbrook Manor development from a company called Platinum Properties of Central Florida Inc. We selected Florida Countryside as our agent after seeing them on Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun & on ITV's I want that house, believing them to be a reputable company who would protect our interests.

Last week Platinum Properties of Central Florida Inc. applied for bankruptcy. Despite Florida Countryside’s promises, they have materially failed to look after our interests throughout the last 3 years, resulting in our eventual loss of the 10% deposit at a cost to date (3rd October 2007) of £19,335.33.

I am publicising my story so that others may learn from my experience.

Weiker arrested and charged with Fraud

"It is with a huge smile and a happy heart that i bring this news to you all.

As of 4 PM today David Weiker Snr was sitting in Lake County jail charged with Fraud.

He has also been charged with a number of other counts, more details will be published as I obtain them.

The news was given to me direct from the FDLE who have been continually working to bring this man to justice.

I congratulated Agent Mark Willis when he broke the news to me a short time ago.

He had told me earlier in the week that he was hoping for an arrest this week and he was good to his word.

I know a number of people on the site thought that the FDLE was not working hard enough to see this man dealt with but I know that Mark had never stopped working to see Weiker brought to justice.

Larry Maloney was also arrested and is at present in the Orange county Jail."

Developer faces lawsuits; files for Chapter 11

A Central Florida developer facing a series of lawsuits and a state investigation has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Clermont-based Platinum Properties of Central Florida Inc.'s move comes on the heels of several lawsuits filed against it and an ongoing state criminal investigation of its business dealings.

Platinum Properties, which filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 20, must file a disclosure statement and plan of reorganization by February.

The firm filed for Chapter 11 protection because it can't cover unsecured debt of $9 million for its Milbrook Manor subdivision in Lake County and $7 million for its Winslow Estates subdivision in Polk, says Scott Shuker, former attorney for Platinum Properties.

Platinum Properties also is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The department began looking at the company's dealings nearly a year ago based on information from the Florida Attorney General's office, says Susie Murphy, spokeswoman for the department's Orlando office.

The Attorney General's office launched its investigation following civil complaints and determined it should be a criminal investigation because money was taken, but work wasn't completed, Murphy says.
